Seiya Wakahara Awarded the George Rehm Nutrient Management Fellowship

Seiya Wakahara, a PhD student in the Land and Atmospheric Science (LAAS) program at the University of Minnesota, has been awarded the prestigious George Rehm Nutrient Management Fellowship. The fellowship, established by Professor Emeritus George Rehm, provides $5,000 to graduate students in the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate conducting research on soils and soil fertility. Under the guidance of Dr. Yuxin Miao, Seiya’s research focuses on precision nitrogen and water management in potato production, aiming to enhance yield, resource efficiency, and sustainability. This award honors Professor Rehm’s legacy of advancing innovative soil fertility practices while supporting emerging agricultural researchers.
