On February 25, 2025, the Precision Agriculture Center hosted the 2025 Minnesota On-Farm Precision Agriculture Research Network (MN-OFPARN) Meeting at Borlaug Hall on the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. Farmers, crop consultants, researchers, students, industry professionals, and representatives of federal and state agencies gathered to discuss advancements in on-farm precision agriculture research, including precision nitrogen(N) and sulfur (S) management, variable rate seeding, on-farm biostimulant application, integration of precision nitrogen and irrigation, and new technologies like the OmniAgrobot.
The Precision Agriculture Center Director, Dr. Yuxin Miao, moderated the whole event, with key presentations covered:
- Dr. Yuxin Miao: On-farm research overview and introduction of the 5SPNM technology.
- Dr. Junjun Lu (Postdoc): (1) Precision N Management; (2) Integrated Precision N and S Management.
- Renzo Negrini (PhD Student): (1) Precision S Management; (2) On-farm Evaluation of Biostimulant (ReGen) and N Application.
- Ayoub Kechour (PhD Student): (1) Precision Seeding; (2) Integration of Precision N and Irrigation for Corn in a Sandy Field; (3) Integrated Precision Seeding and N management.
- Yue Li (PhD Student): Management Zone Research and Update.
- Abhishek Chaudhari (M.S. Student): OmniAgrobot – a new platform to carry out multiple tasks in the field.
- Dr. Yuxin Miao concluded with the new projects and Plans for 2025.
The event highlighted the Precision Agriculture Center's commitment to developing practical, profitable, and sustainable solutions for the agriculture community. In addition, there was a lot of space for networking among all the attendees. We also had the pleasure of having many fantastic discussions during the presentations, hearing the thoughts and ideas from the diverse range of members present.
